What is linear actuator? Electric linear actuators, or electromechanical linear actuators, are basic linear actuators that move as a result of an outside power source. These actuators use electrical power to achieve mechanical force. Electric linear actuators are used in a wide range of applications including robotics, aerospace, and factory automation. Some electric linear actuators and units can operate in vacuum, radiation, cryogenic, corrosive, and underwater environments. How it work? Electric linear actuators are devices that produce mechanical motion by converting various forms of energy into mechanical energy. In electric linear actuators, a motor rotates a drive screw using a synchronous timing belt drive, worm gear drive, or direct drive. The turning of the screw pushes a drive nut along the screw, which in turn pushes the rod out. Rotating the screw in the opposite direction retracts the rod. The drive screw of electric linear actuators is either an ACME or ball thread or is belt-driven, while the drive nut is plastic, bronze, or a ball nut. What is The Difference between Static Load and Dynamic Load ? Dynamic, working, or lifting load is the force that will be applied to the actuator while it is in motion. Static load, also called the holding load, is the force that will be applied to the actuator when it is not in motion. What is the Duty Cycle Capability of a Linear Actuator ?
